Ya esta aquí el tercer volumen de nuestro sample Boletín Semanal Rock, y si en un principio este volumen iba dirigido a las reediciones de estos últimos años, al final hemos decidido incluir en él mas novedades del periodo 2005-2009, ya que después de haberlo meditado mucho, hemos visto que en el volumen anterior no pudimos incluir por motivos de espacio otros muchísimos artistas interesantes que merecían estar ahí, por lo tanto, este que ya esta como hemos comentado anteriormente a la disposición de nuestros subscriptores gratuitamente, es la continuación de aquel y lo hemos titulado New Rock.

Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band-The Distance (1982)

"The Distance" supuso uno de los últimos grandes álbumes del gran Bob Seger, uno de los músicos mas carismáticos del rock norteamericano, que lograria su etapa mas gloriosa durante gran parte de los años 70 con álbumes como "Mongrel", "Back In´72", "Seven", "Night Moves" o "Stranger In Town". Precedido por el exitoso "Against The Wind", en este su doudécimo registro de estudio, el músico originario de Detroit regresa al rock contundente y enérgico que ya habia mostrado en registros como "Seven" (1974) o "Night Moves" (1976), abandonando los sonidos melódicos y el soft rock de trabajos como el reflexivo “Beautiful Loser” (1975) o el comercial "Against The Wind" (1980). Junto a sus inseparables The Silver Bullet Band, el cantante logra confeccionar un trabajo muy equilibrado entre la comercialidad, los sonidos introspectivos y el rock clásico. Piezas como "Even Now", "Roll Me Away", "Shame on The Moon", "Comin´Home", "Love´s The Last to Know", "Little Victories", "Boomtown Blues" o  "House Behind a House", demostraron la determinación y la seriedad de uno de los grandes músicos de raíces del rock americano, el cual con su cautivadora y enérgica voz se ha ganado el corazón de millones de norteamericanos durante su larga carrera artística.

Samson-Shock Tactics (1981)

Samson fueron otra de las cientos de bandas precursoras del llamado movimiento NWOBHM (las siglas en ingles de New Wave Of British Heavy Metal), la cual pese a sus increíbles excelencias no tuvieron la misma suerte que las mas icónicas Def Leppard o Iron Maiden, por poner solo dos ejemplos. Fundados en 1977 en Londres, su formación clásica comprende al guitarrista Paul Samson, al baterista Thunderstick, al bajista Chris Aylmer y al cantante Bruce Dickinson. En 1981 Samson publicarían su obra cumbre, este "Shock Tactics" el cual paradójicamente seria la tumba de la banda al ser el ultimo con su cantante y que junto a Paul Samson eran los alma matters de esta agrupación. Su abandono seria precisamente por el enorme rango vocal y sus tremendas habilidades como frontman, lo que llevaría al bajista de Iron Maiden Steve Harris, el reclutarlo para su banda al poco de finalizar la grabación de este álbum. En esta segunda entrega Samson no solo muestran la genial madurez en sus composiciones, si no también una banda en pleno estado de gracia facturando un soberbio disco de gran heavy metal. Un repertorio repleto de trepidantes cortes como "Riding With The Angels", "Earth Mother", ""Nice Girl", "Blood Lust", "Go To Hell" o "Bright Lights", lo convierten en uno de los clásicos del Heavy Metal Británico.

Stud-Goodbye (1973)

En 1970 Rory Gallagher daba por finiquitada la aventura de su banda Taste para afrontar su fructífera carrera en solitario. En este contexto el resto de la formación, el baterista John Wilson y el bajista Richard McCracken, decidieron seguir adelante formando una banda a la que llamaron Stud, para ello reclutaron al guitarrista Jim Creagan, ex-Blossom Toes.

Con un contrato bajo el sello Deram, un año más tarde lanzaron el homónimo "Stud", el cual alcanza un discreto éxito en algunos países europeos como Alemania.

Después de un segundo album "September", en el cual ampliaron la formación con el guitarrista y violinista ex- Family, John Weider y debido a poco bagaje comercial, la banda se termina desintegrando a mediados de 1973.

Ese mismo año y a modo de epitafio, el sello BASF, la cual tenia los derechos del grupo fuera de Gran Bretaña, publico el directo "Goodbye", un concierto ofrecido un año antes en los Commond Studios de Londres.

En este epitafio sobresalen la tour de force "Horizon", una jam rock de improvisaciónes en donde cada uno de los miembros muestra sus talentos con sus respectivos instrumentos o el experimental jazz rock "Harpo´s Head" con un gran trabajo del violinista John Weider.

El resto esta formado por las folkys "Big Bill’s Banjo Band" y la orquestada "Ocean Boogie".
